The App

Learners can benefit from the use of a terminology app which provides useful information such as bilingual descriptions, photos and pronunciation via audio. The app contains two versions, one for those learning Welsh and another for those who are fluent in Welsh.

This app could be used to support interactive learning resources within this platform where learners are required to identify the Welsh terminology. This app should also be used in the work place to support subject specific terminology.

The following link will launch the Android App, adeiladwaith, which is a phrasebook app. This app focuses on terminology from the Built Environment sector.

About

What is this Resource:

The purpose of this resource is to develop learners bilingual skills in the built environment subject area. New bilingual resources have been created for the built environment subject area which include assessment for learning materials. The resources includes documents, pdfs and workbooks and also interactive resources such as animation, wordwall, socrative and kahoot.

For whom:

These resources have been developed for tutors and practitioners to use in the classroom for the built environment in the post 16 sector.

Why:

To meet the call from the further education sector to improve the availability of Welsh medium and bilingual resources in the field of the built environment, and to provide an opportunity to identify and share good practice. The field of the built environment is also one of the Welsh Government's priorities with respect to increasing Welsh medium provision in the further education sector.

Improving this resource:

We welcome feedback on the relevance of the resource to educators. We also welcome suggestions for new content or references to other resources that are relevant to the field of the built environment.

ColegauCymru is a charity and a not-for-profit company. ColegauCymru's main role is to promote further education to those who make or influence policy. ColegauCymru also identifies and disseminates good practice within the post-16 education sector. For more information, go to http://www.collegeswales.ac.uk . The project was also funded and supported by BACH UK and CITB through the All In It Together project.
